Indeed more questions of Disscussion

The idea of creating revolutionary art that reaches the masses or even just the public is an idea I have been thinking about almost constantly.  The only problem is deploying these ideas or actual pieces into public controversy.  Are there any organized groups that can stay in secrecy and still deploy their ideas in our area?  Is ultimate secrecy even possible or beneficial to the group?  Another thought that came to me in this reading, possible that these are both a lot off topic, but with the ongoing success in video games that are all about modern warfare it seems that even the gaming industry is trying to target young adults to be interested in war or what their interpretations of war are.  What and who regulates new games that are being produced?  Is their something like the FDA of games?

A Divine Intervention

I choose to spoof the infamous Duggar family website.  If you are unfamiliar with these people then here is just a brief description, they are a religious family that have 19 kids and a show on TLC about their unusual life and their struggles to have more kids.  To me they are just plain brainwashed folks that love crafts and having kids until they die.  I hope I don't offend too many people with this but I think it's funny, people make fun of my life style choices too.  I used pictures of famous people such as: Tebow, Micheal Jackson, and Lucy Lawless (Xena Warrior Princess) to relate it to different tastes any viewer may have.  Enjoy this divine intervention at any gathering or situation by saving it to your iPads or other fancy technology devices.

Video Re-make Extravaganza!

The original video was done by Superflex in 2008.  Founded in 1993 by Jakob Fenger, Rasmus Nielsen and Bjørnstjerne Christiansen.

SUPERFLEX describe their projects as Tools. A tool is a model or proposal that can actively be used and further utilized and modified by the user.

Here is the re-make I have created.

Burning Car Re-make
Medium:RC car, fire crackers, hair spray, bark, egg, beer(to put the fire out)
I felt that the video was all about the complex change that occurs in modifying an object.  The effect could also be brought about to compare this idea by using other elements such as water, ice, etc.  I also changed the state of the egg.  Listening to just the aduio of the original gives your mind the freedom to create something that is creating the noise.  I feel that if you focus one sense on what it does best it creates a new perspective on one thing.

Questions of Discussion

  • Something that has been in my mind for the past year is the idea of conceptualism, Bruce Nauman turned the camera on himself as did other artists but what is it exactly that is considered the "art"?  The finished product of the idea, just the idea, or the act of carrying out that idea, or is it just different for everyone who is aware of the idea?
  • In retrospect to the article, the writer ends with the artist being in control of how the art is viewed, something that is not always controlled in other art forms.  They have the ability to alter the size, volume, speed etc. to their video.  Is this an unavoidable advantage that video artists have over all other artists?  And if so then does that make video artists the ultimate artists of portrayal?
